“The Civic Center Revitalization Project is a much-needed reinvigoration to our downtown area. The project also reflects the growth and progressiveness of our community and the City’s ongoing commitment to providing more resources and amenities to our residents and visitors.”
-Garden Grove Mayor Steve Jones
Project description
The progressive project commenced with a six-month predevelopment period, during which the City of Garden Grove and the Edgemoor team closely collaborated to validate the program, advance design, structure the financing, negotiate commercial terms, and agree upon the budget. The project is being delivered in two phases – Phase I, which includes a new public safety facility for the Garden Grove Police Department (GGPD) and an adjacent parking structure, and Phase II, which includes the demolition of the existing public safety facility and development of a new community park. The103,000-square-foot public safety facility will replace the existing facility and is designed to address GGPD’s current and future space needs. The building will consolidate police administration and administrative services, records, evidence and property, communications, investigations, community policing, SWAT, shared training amenities, and a larger temporary holding area into one facility. The four-level parking structure will accommodate secured police fleet vehicle parking, staff personal vehicles, and public parking. The 2.7-acre park will feature open space, a memorial grove, a walking trail, and an event lawn. For more information about the project, visit www.ggcity.org/civic-center
