Augustana recently announced the addition of a Men’s Hockey program, which will compete at the NCAA Division I level — prompting the need for a hockey arena. The facility is planned for 3,000 seats, a competition rink, luxury suites, athletic training and support spaces, as well as additional on-site infrastructure.
“This is an exciting time not only for Augustana, but for the entire greater Sioux Falls community,” said Edgemoor Senior Managing Director Geoffrey Stricker. “Our team is looking forward to delivering a world-class facility that will have a meaningful impact on Augustana and the community.”
Augustana broke ground on the new facility on October 5, 2021. The project is scheduled for completion by October 2023, with the intent to be fully operational in the fall of 2023.
“Providing a state-of-the-art home for our new Men’s Hockey program is a pivotal element of Augustana’s Viking Bold strategic plan”, said Augustana President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. “This project is more than just an arena —it’s an opportunity to further elevate the profile of the university and help position us for growth for decades to come, and we are confident that our partnership with Edgemoor will help us achieve these goals.”
