Edgemoor Real Estate Services spent the morning of November 18 helping prepare meals for the homeless at the DC Central Kitchen. Located on the ground floor of the Federal City Shelter, DC Central Kitchen is a 20-year operation that provides over 4000 meals daily for the homeless. Fourteen Edgemoor volunteers worked with men and women from the Kitchen’s 73rd Culinary Job Training (CJT) program class to prepare food that was then delivered to more than one hundred community agencies. Kitchen tasks included chopping vegetables, sorting fresh produce, mixing salads, portioning meals, de-boning meat, washing dishes and assisting with other tasks vital to operating a ten thousand square foot community kitchen. Additionally, Edgemoor collected over $2,000 that was used to buy gift cards for the students of the CJT program, so that they can provide their families with a warmer holiday season
